Metrovacesa presents Domum, its new brand of quality and sustainable commitment
- The company is furthering its commitment to sustainability with a new quality brand, Domum, which optimises the design and construction of its developments in a sustainable manner.
- Aspects such as energy efficiency, circular economy and a design adapted to the climatic and landscape characteristics are key elements in Domum.
Domum, as a good practice of sustainability in building, has the support of the Green Building Council Spain (GBCe), the main organisation for sustainable building in the country.
Madrid, 15 November 2021. Metrovacesa, Spain’s leading real estate developer with more than one hundred years of history, is reinforcing its commitment to sustainability through a new initiative called Domum, its new brand of quality and sustainable commitment. The developer has created the Domum label, a rating system that will categorise Metrovacesa’s developments according to their levels of sustainability, taking into account different aspects or categories such as the carbon footprint of the homes; construction and personalisation, which will take into account aspects such as waste management; the wellbeing of the homes, lighting and air quality; the water footprint and accessibility and transport options in these residential complexes.
This label was created as a result of metrovacesa’s commitment to sustainability and the environment and allows for an improvement in the requirements of the current regulations in force. In this sense, the new Domum quality and sustainability mark analyses the environmental impact of the buildings, as well as their economic, health and wellbeing criteria. Thus, aspects such as energy efficiency, circular economy and a design adapted to the specific climatic and landscape characteristics of each location are key elements in all the projects developed by the company.
Metrovacesa Domum’s sustainable commitment is part of its Sustainability Plan 2020-2022 and is aligned with the most important actions of the main market seals such as Breeam, Leed, Well, Green, the SDGs and the new EU frameworks on sustainability, such as Level(s) and Taxonomy.
The final Domum structure qualifies 5 categories and 29 sub-categories. The action lines lay the foundations for sustainable building, thus actively contributing to the transformation of the real estate sector.
Metrovacesa’s Projects and Sustainability unit has a large in-house team, including architects, engineers, Energy Certification specialists and a specialist in sustainability and environmental seals. This team is prepared to implement the necessary measures to achieve social and sustainable building in its active developments and future projects that make up its land portfolio, equivalent to more than 33,000 homes to be developed. In addition, Metrovacesa works on a recurring basis with the best architectural and engineering firms, aligned with its philosophy of creating sustainable architecture.
Another step forward in its commitment to innovation
In addition to the creation of this new tool for implementing sustainability in its developments, Metrovacesa continues to work to develop new tools and initiatives to develop and promote housing adapted to the needs of its customers, with the highest level of innovation and the most efficient and sustainable possible.
In this regard, the company has recently positioned itself as the first developer in Spain to integrate its BIM 360 (Building Information Modeling) platform with Blockchain technology.
Thanks to this integration, the parameters measured in Domum are identified in the Metrovacesa BIM platform and are certified in the Alastria Blockchain network.
