Madrid, 06 September 2023. Metrovacesa, a leading developer in Spain with more than one hundred years of experience, has recently started the construction and urbanisation works for Gasómetro, a project of two residential buildings comprising 98 multi-family homes with up to 4 bedrooms and communal areas, which will represent an expected investment of 22.6 million euros for the company.

The two buildings that make up the Gasómetro development are located in the residential neighbourhood of Segle XX, in the city of Terrassa, just a few minutes from Barcelona. This residential complex will cover different housing needs in the area, with homes with between 1 and 4 bedrooms, all of them with outdoor terraces. In addition, one of the buildings in the development will have rest areas, such as a swimming pool or children’s area, and parking spaces. The central axis of both buildings is the new urban square that will be remodelled and will externally join the two blocks of the development.

Metrovacesa signed the execution of this project with the architectural firm Farres Frias i Associats Arquitectes, which has extensive experience in Barcelona and the surrounding area. The execution of the project will embody the idea of design based on the use of superior quality materials, as well as avant-garde aesthetic nuances.

The Gasómetro project is located in the well-known neighbourhood of Segle XX, a residential-residential area, but with services such as educational centres, supermarkets, leisure and children’s areas. It is also located at a short distance from the city centre. On the other hand, Terrassa has an advantageous location, due to its natural landscapes and the short distance that separates it from the city of Barcelona and its excellent communications, both by public and private transport.

In accordance with Metrovacesa’s firm commitment to the environment, Gasómetro complies with strict sustainability standards. It has the highest rating in Energy Consumption and Carbon Emissions metrics, with an A rating. It also complies with DOMUM, Metrovacesa’s sustainable seal of approval, and with the Sustainable Building rating by Sello Verde. Among other initiatives, this development will feature insulation of the building’s façades and windows, low-consumption air conditioning and optimal air quality, use of LED bulbs in the building’s common areas, and installation of toilets that are respectful of reduced water consumption.

Strategic area for Metrovacesa

Terrassa is home to 7 Metrovacesa developments, Gasómetro being the most recent. This town is a strategic enclave both geographically, at a very short distance from Barcelona, and economically, with a strong and diversified industrial fabric. These opportunities mean that Terrassa is home to the Polytechnic University and its students. In addition to these advantages, Terrassa has a great charm due to its monuments and natural spaces.

With the start of construction of Gasómetro, Metrovacesa has 21 new developments in the province of Barcelona, adding 7 in Terrassa, a municipality with attractive residential potential, combining economic growth, cultural possibilities and the diversity of landscapes and natural spaces.
