Madrid, 12 March, 2019. Metrovacesa, Spain’s leading property developer, pursuing the aims set out in its business plan, has started three new developments in Galicia, adding to the one already under way since last year in Pontevedra: the Xardíns da Gaiteira residential complex in A Coruña and the Cornes and San Marcos complexes in Santiago de Compostela. In doing so, the company is driving the supply of new-build homes in the two main cities of the Galician Community, where the shortage of homes and growing demand for this type of product illustrate the current state of the property market.

To start up all these projects, which will add up to more than 170 new homes in the Community, the developer will invest more than €32 million.

To launch all these projects, which add up to more than 170 new homes in the Community, the developer will invest more than €32 million.

A Coruña, capital

Metrovacesa has started its first development in A Coruña — Xardíns da Gaiteira — a residential complex of 70 homes of 1, 2, 3 and 4 bedrooms and studios that will have a garage and storage room, in sizes ranging from 43 m2 to 160 m2. Designed by local architects, Arqnova, the project has been attracting great interest since we started marketing it and it has communal landscaped gardens, a heated pool, a children’s play area and a gourmet lounge; all exclusive features that no other new-build development in this area of the city has.

This complex is located in one of the city’s prime areas, in the Rúa Gaiteira, very close to El Corte Inglés, in the Cuatro Caminos district, which has excellent transport links and all public services such as hospitals and schools, as well as numerous leisure and commercial offerings. We forecast that construction work will be finished in the first half of 2021.

Santiago de Compostela

Metrovacesa has started two developments in the Galician capital: Cornes, a complex of 34 homes of 1, 2, 3 and 4 bedrooms of between 64 m2 and 137 m2 with garages and storage rooms, which will be ready at the end of 2020. The project is located in one of the highest growth areas in Santiago de Compostela, close to the train station, municipal buildings, shopping centres and with excellent links for entering and leaving the city. In addition it is only a few minutes on foot to one of the main parks in the city. Designed by Galician architects Carbajo & Barrios, the project stands out because of the special attention given to its distribution, achieving high-quality homes of a distinctive design in the area.

Besides this, in the San Marcos district, only a few minutes from the city, we have begun the San Marcos residential complex. This is an urbanization of 69 townhouses of 140 m2 and three bedrooms, in a modern-design house over two floors, with a private garden of up to 319 m2. The urbanization has green spaces and communal areas for sport that include pools and tennis courts. We forecast handover at the end of 2021.

The complex is only a few minutes from the airport and very close to the city’s two main shopping centres. Metrovacesa has once again put its faith in local architects’ studio, Díaz&Díaz, for its design. The architects have won more than a dozen awards and are responsible for prestige projects in the Community such as the business start-up incubator, Bulevar del Papagayo, in A Coruña.

Luis Miguel Pascual, Metrovacesa Regional Director for the Centre-North, said: “We at Metrovacesa are aware of the shortage of new-build homes and we want to be one of the main drivers of reviving Galicia’s property market, which is a strategic area for us, with great prospects and where we have also decided to use local talent and promote Galician architecture.”

The company is committed to developing all its projects to the highest standards of quality, innovation and sustainability, both in the materials it uses and in its finishes and processes. All this to ensure they are perfectly balanced with their environment.
